In 2024, Pinta Sud | ASU celebrates its third and final edition in Asunción, Paraguay, kicking off Art Week with an Inaugural Concert by the Orquesta Sinfónica del Congreso Nacional del Paraguay (OSIC) open to the general public.
The Orquesta Sinfónica del Congreso Nacional del Paraguay (OSIC) is a musical ensemble under the Centro Cultural de la República “El Cabildo”, the cultural department of the National Congress of Paraguay, established in 2012. Comprised of Paraguay's finest professional musicians selected through rigorous admission competitions, and conducted by maestro Diego Sánchez Haase, OSIC stands today as Paraguay's premier symphonic ensemble.
OSIC's artistic direction focuses on historically informed performances of symphonic repertoire, spanning diverse styles from early music to contemporary compositions.

Director of the National Congress Symphony Orchestra of Paraguay (OSIC)
Paraguayan conductor, composer, pianist, and harpsichordist. Currently the principal conductor of the National Congress Symphony Orchestra of Paraguay, president of the Bach Society of Paraguay, and director of the Bicentennial Music House "Agustín Barrios Mangoré". Considered by critics to be one of the most brilliant, complete, and versatile figures in Paraguayan music. Winner of numerous national and international awards, he has conducted concerts and premiered his works in Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay, Venezuela, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Spain, Italy, the United States, Germany, Switzerland, England, Peru, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Greece, Morocco, New Zealand, Australia, and Korea.
In 2018, he premiered his opera "Pancha y Elisa", based on a work by Paraguayan writer Augusto Roa Bastos, to great acclaim. This opera is broadcast internationally by the Allegro HD television channel. Additionally, his opera "Ñomongeta", the first opera in Guarani, premiered successfully in Rome, Brussels, Paris, and Asunción in May 2019, and in San Miguel de Allende and Puebla (Mexico) in 2021, and in New York and Washington in September 2022, in a highly acclaimed production by Opera Hispánica of New York, the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, and the Americas Society. This production was highlighted by the New York Times as one of the significant premieres in the United States for the fall of 2022, and by the Voice of America as "a unique opera...with musical rigor akin to the great operatic works."
In 2022, together with the Bach Society of Paraguay, he made a successful debut at the renowned BachFest in Leipzig, Germany, conducting a memorable concert at the Nikolaikirche in Leipzig. In 2024, as part of the same festival, he premiered his composition "Kirito ra'aróvo", a motet in Guarani for a cappella choir, with great success, at the PaulinumKirche in Leipzig.
Sánchez Haase graduated in piano with the distinction of "Outstanding with Exceptional Merit" in Asunción and studied Orchestral Conducting and Composition in Paraguay, Germany, Italy, Spain, Venezuela, Brazil, and the United States, under the guidance of maestros such as F. Giménez, H. Rilling, A. Juliá, M. Benzecry, A. Thalheim, G. Deraco, and others. At the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart, Germany, he specialized in the music of J.S. Bach, under the renowned maestro Helmuth Rilling.
Sánchez Haase works tirelessly to promote the music of J.S. Bach in Paraguay and the region, having founded not only the Bach Society of Paraguay—with which he has offered first performances in Paraguay of numerous Bach works—but also the South American Bach Circuit, a collaborative network among musicians and groups dedicated to Bach's music in our continent.
He is the author of numerous symphonic, chamber, and solo works, performed worldwide. He has published three books. He has twice won the "National Music Award", the highest composition accolade in Paraguay, received the "Master of the Arts" diploma from the Republic's Cultural Center "El Cabildo", the "José Asunción Flores" Gold Medal from the Ministry of Education, is an Honorary Doctor from the National University of Villarrica, Paraguayan Tourism Ambassador by the National Tourism Secretariat, and the 2018 Cluster Prize in the city of Lucca, Italy, among many others.
Sánchez Haase lives in Asunción with his wife Lourdes, his daughters Constanza and Aurora, and his dog Scarpia.
